Parents are busy, and the YMCA of Grant County gets this, which is they have created a program called Live Y'ers to help care for kids.
Live Y’ers is an after and before school care the YMCA runs during the school year and even in the summer. This program is open to any children who are in Preschool through 6th grade. It is open to anyone in the community, children and their parents are not required to be members. The Y does this as part of its mission to help develop the youth in the community.
The YMCA has found that 20% of children in Indiana are unsupervised from the hours of 3 pm to 6 pm. This is also when youth-related crimes are at their highest. By offering these after-school programs we are also helping to lower these youth committed crimes in our communities.
What does Live Y’ers provide?
- A safe place for children in Pre-K - 6th grade.
- Healthy snacks and meals
- Educational time for children to do homework
- Physical fitness activities, such as swimming
- Transportation to and from Marion Community Schools.
