United Way of Grant County takes our funding process quite seriously. We fund our 15 agencies and 31 programs by assessing the annual performance of those agencies. This is done through a committee of community members. Those committee members then evaluate their impact through an application and personal interview. Based on that evaluation the available funds are allocated accordingly.
This is one of the most time consuming tasks United Way volunteers are asked to take on, but one that is the most rewarding. It is in this process that the volunteer really gets into the agencies to see the inner workings of the organizations that are seeking funding from United Way. It becomes “real” and the needs are more apparent.
